SHOPIAN, MAY 16: Minister for Rural Development and Panchayat Raj, Law & Justice, Mr. Abdul Haq Khan Monday inaugurated 1.5 km long Flood Protection Bund at Nazneenpora in district Shopian.
The bund, stretching from Shirmal to Nazneenpora, has been constructed at a cost of Rs 1.45 crore. Mr Khan said it will provide protection to the villages of Shirmal and Nazneepora in case of floods.
Interacting with the media-persons, the Minister highlighted the importance of such bunds in flood management and assured that more such bunds will be constructed in flood-prone areas to prevent damages to the life and property.
Later, the Minister addressed a huge public gathering at Shopian Fruit Mandi where he reiterated the Coalition Government’s resolve to work for peace, progress and prosperity of the State. He urged people to have faith in the PDP-BJP coalition government, which is working tirelessly under the leadership of Ms Mehbooba Mufti for the welfare of the masses.
Mr Khan also inspected the plantation done on both sides of Mughal Road under convergence programme. He also inspected the newly constructed Mini Secretariat at Arhama, Shopian.
MLA Shopian, Advocate Mohammad Yousuf Bhat, MLC, Mr. Zaffar Iqbal Manhas, DC Shopian, Mr GM Dar, Director Rural Development Kashmir, Mr Tasaduq Jeelani, SSP Shopian and other officers from police and civil administration were present on the occasion.
